The Next Denim Quilt Started

I've started the next denim quilt.  I'm trying to machine quilt each block as I go.  This is the first time that I've done this and also the first time I have done the sashing this way.  I'm thinking not too bad for my first attempts but I am definitely going to have to put more practice in.

I had to put one of my sewing machines in the shop today and I'm actually kind of glad that I did.  It forced me to go back to my old Brother XL6562 and it sews so much smoother than the one I just put in the shop.  It is also a Brother but is one of the computerized Project Runway models.  My only problem right now is that I've lost the darning plate to this old one so I can't free motion on this machine but I'm going to order another one and I think I am going to start using this old machine more.  It is not computerized but I'm thinking it is more heavy duty than the other and can take my quilting better.  I'll keep the other because I do like the decorative stitches it offers.

Frozen in Over the Weekend Quilting

I don't know what it is, other than maybe just the cold weather, but I always want to quilt in the winter...well we were iced in this weekend and I worked on quilt blocks all weekend long...here are just a view examples of the ones that I made...I love doing quilts made from old jeans...they just have the nicest weight about them...and I can put them together like a crazy quilt or make them more orderly as I so choose.

Well hopefully this is a good excuse

I have gotten no better at blogging and no better at starting my weight lose journey.  But I have been heavy into my quilting.  I actually have just started this so I am not very good at it....but really hope that I can improve.

This is the first one I did for my grandson from his, his mom's and my old jeans...I am thinking that I really don't like the sashing done like this so I am planning to do something different and I've found a different tutorial that shows a different way.

Next I started my survivor quilt...from old tees that my sister n law had given me because she works with our local race for the cure and my tee from CARTI plus just some old tees that had gotten some stains on them...she is also a survivor.

I had not even finished my survivor quilt when my sister wanted me to work on a jean quilt for her.  So she and I worked together on this one.

And finally, this quilt, I had to have started from old scraps well over 5 years ago and I am just glad to have it done...sadly it just looks like black hearts to me.  I am not as pleased with this one, as some of the material has probably at least 50 percent polyester and I think I would be happier trying to stick with cotton when I can...you live you learn.  I love the jean quilts they are a bit hard to work with in places but I love the weight of them when they are done.  I don't think I will do another tee quilt again unless it is something special like maybe some of my granddaughter's tees from her dance and school functions.
